About Us
Roger and Sara Skogen have owned and operated R & S Rolling Ranch since 1990. Roger grew up raising and training horses, and he and Sara raised their three children on the ranch, instilling in each a love and knowledge of horses, and animals in general.
A love of horses, and an appreciation for how they can help children and adults alike, led to the Ranch’s creation. Located in the rolling countryside of south central Wisconsin, a mile from a major Interstate connection, R & S offers both convenience, and something which other equine training facilities don’t – namely the willingness to find the right fit for you/your child and your horse. If Roger, after meeting with you and talking about your wants and needs, doesn’t feel he can help you, he’ll let you know.
As a horse owner, you and/or your child have many options for training available to you, and we at R & S know that. There are facilities throughout the stateline area which will offer dazzle, deals and everything from a small stall to a country club’ environment for your animal. All of these, of course, come at a cost.
At R & S, we believe that training a horse is a very individualistic experience, and if both you and we are able to decide what you want and need, and how we can best help you with that, we can help you to reach those aspirations – and create a bond between you and your horse which you can continue to cherish and develop as long as you’re together.
While offering a range of services, from boarding through breaking, they aren’t all done in the same manner for every person we work with. Roger grew up around horses, and he and his Father together formed of one of the pioneering herds of Haflinger horses in the state. This knowledge allows him to meet with you, spend time with you and your horse, and together decide what could work best for you.
The R & S ‘Difference’
If that means that Roger feels a standard two month boarding and training (and training involves both you and Roger), he will let you know, and explain why. If he feels that either less or more would work best for you, he will be honest enough to let you know that as well. In the end, Roger is interested not in the quantity of people that he works with, but in the quality of help that he’s able to give each of them.
Here’s The Problem
You have read the books, bought the CD’s, and all the gadgets, special ropes, sticks and strings and so on. But you still are not having the success that you are looking for. Not making that connection they are all talking about.
I don’t care what methods you want to use, I only care that the horse understands what you are asking of them.
Having and working with horse is a very time committed process and I want people to know there is a person locally that feels very strongly to do what ever it takes to help you get where you want to go with your horse.
